Bristol Tree Craft C.I.C. is a nature-based mental health service and community climate action project. We use traditional hands-on crafts and nature connection to support people in developing resilience, community and environmental stewardship, working through close partnerships with other organisations. Whilst some services are open to anyone, our main target groups are at-risk youth, refugees/asylum seekers and those recovering from abuse. All our services are designed to deliver 3 core aims: 1. Improving mental health 2. Creating social belonging 3. Developing leadership towards creative climate action During the 2025 financial year, the company ran 106 free-to-access sessions with 6 different community organisations, reaching a total of 674 beneficiaries.
Local community needs drive every aspect of our operations and organisational culture – indeed, our company formation was a response to locally-expressed demand, emerging through a series of consultations and free drop-in sessions. We continually consult our service users about how we can serve their priorities, ensuring their voices drive our project by: 1. Giving every participant a chance to say what they did or didn’t like at the end of each session and inviting requests for future sessions. 2. Running Likert-style, ‘pin-a-leaf’ participant surveys. 3. Conducting one-to-one interviews with participants. 5. Using our ‘Tell Us Tree’ to gain continuous written feedback and direction from participants. 6. Running a volunteer scheme where we invite suggestions and hold reviews to ensure our volunteers have opportunities to shape our service and are feeling supported in their role.
The Directors have jointly received £44,932 for their salaries as head of Community Partnerships & Funding (Hugh) and Corporate Partnerships & Volunteer Management (Ben) respectively.
