COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CAMBOURNE HINDUS CIC

Company Number: 16174814 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

Community Benefit Statement – Cambourne Hindus CIC Financial Year Covered: January 2025 to April 2026 (based on the attached bank statements and income/expenditure records) Cambourne Hindus CIC was established to promote community cohesion, advance cultural and religious understanding, and provide opportunities for residents of Cambourne and the surrounding areas to participate in Hindu religious, cultural and charitable activities. During the financial year, the CIC received approximately £3,520 in income, primarily through voluntary community contributions, membership donations, festival collections and event-related receipts. Expenditure of approximately £2,475 was incurred in directly delivering community activities and maintaining facilities and services for local residents. Community Activities and Public Benefit Throughout the year, Cambourne Hindus CIC organised and facilitated a wide range of Hindu religious, cultural and community events that were open to local residents. A significant proportion of expenditure was directed towards venue hire and event delivery costs, including payments to local community facilities and Cambourne Town Council for the use of community spaces. These activities enabled the CIC to provide a regular and accessible place of worship for Hindu families living in Cambourne and neighbouring villages, many of whom would otherwise need to travel considerable distances to attend religious services. The CIC organised and supported numerous Hindu festivals, prayers, devotional gatherings and religious rituals throughout the year. These events promoted spiritual wellbeing, cultural heritage and social inclusion, while providing opportunities for families, children and older residents to participate in community life. Regular worship sessions and festival celebrations strengthened community bonds and helped preserve cultural traditions for future generations. Promotion of Social Cohesion The CIC’s activities brought together individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, encouraging mutual understanding, friendship and community participation. Events were designed to be inclusive and family-oriented, creating opportunities for residents to meet, volunteer and contribute to community initiatives. By maintaining a regular programme of religious and cultural activities, the CIC has helped reduce social isolation among local Hindu residents and provided a supportive environment where community members can gather, celebrate important festivals and support one another. Charitable and Voluntary Activities In addition to religious activities, Cambourne Hindus CIC actively encouraged charitable giving and community service. Members and volunteers worked together to organise and support charitable initiatives within Cambourne and the wider Cambridgeshire area. The organisation facilitated fundraising efforts, volunteer participation and community support activities that benefited local causes and strengthened civic engagement. The accounts also demonstrate support for charitable purposes, including donations and community-related expenditure, reflecting the CIC’s commitment to using its resources for wider public benefit rather than private gain. Support for the Local Community The CIC has established a regular and sustainable community presence within Cambourne. Through the provision of worship services, cultural programmes, festivals and volunteer-led activities, the organisation has: * Provided a regular place of worship for Hindu residents. * Enabled celebration of major Hindu festivals and religious observances. * Promoted cultural education and understanding within the local community. * Encouraged volunteering and community participation. * Supported charitable activities and fundraising initiatives. * Strengthened social cohesion and reduced isolation among community members. * Contributed to the use and sustainability of local community facilities through venue hire and community events. Conclusion The directors of Cambourne Hindus CIC believe that the organisation has delivered clear and measurable community benefit during the year. Income received from community contributions has been applied towards providing religious, cultural and charitable activities for the benefit of the public. The CIC has successfully created a focal point for Hindu worship and community engagement in Cambourne, while also supporting wider charitable and community objectives. These activities are consistent with the CIC’s community interest purpose and demonstrate that its resources have been used for the benefit of the community rather than for private advantage.
