DAKSCom CIC has over the last 12 months undertaken activities which have benefited the community of double above knee amputee snowboarders, their families, friends and associates. It has progressed in each of its 5 pillars of business focus and continues to grow and develop.
1. Equipment and resource development: Focus continued to pursue various opportunities in materials, processes and concepts. Carbon Fiber non-suspended bindings are still the strongest design concept especially for novice riders and manufacturers of both carbon fiber and 3D printed versions were pursued. In addition opportunities to engage with design/manufacturers were undertaken to develop the suspended bindings which are needed to reduce contra indications to health through force distribution through the body 2. Growth: The population of DAKs snowboarders increased over the 12 months to a total of 9 riders (6 actively riding, 3 occasional riders) 3. Enrichment: Through collaboration and partnering with the Armed Forces Para Snowsport Team (AFPST) DAKSCom has participated in 2 weekend events and has had representation on a number of international meets with AFPST. A world record was set in December 2025 where 5 double above knee amputee riders rode together at Castleford Snowzone, West Yorkshire 4. Performance and coaching: Work and understanding of the coaching processes and principles is being undertaken by Richie Page in association with DAKSCom. This considers the relationship between practice and performance linking the rider-equipment-coach relationship and continues to try to evolve a better understanding of the effects of rider posture (governed by the angle of the bindings) and rider position (governed by the position of the bindings on the board. Links with national adaptive coaching bodies and organisations have been made with Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) and Castelford Snowzone Disability Snowsports to encourage the triangle of support between new DAKs rider, local adaptive coach and DAKSCom mentor rider. 5. Stakeholders and funding relations: Support from friends and acquaintances raised considerable funds through auctions and other events, namely the Fox pub in Belvedere, SE London. GoFundme and other crowdfunding platforms are being reviewed for additional support
