Mastering Diversity CIC is a Welsh community interest company established in September 2024 to advance diversity, equity and inclusion through education, community engagement, recognition of inclusive practice and cross-sector collaboration. Its work creates opportunities for people with different backgrounds and lived experiences to share knowledge, identify barriers and contribute to a more inclusive Wales. 1. Mastering Diversity Awards 2024 The Mastering Diversity Awards were held at Senedd Cymru on 16 October 2024. The awards recognised individuals and organisations contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion across business, public services, education, sport, community activity and other fields. They provided a platform to highlight inclusive practice, recognise community contributions and share examples that could inform and encourage others. 2. Free EDI training in partnership with Tramshed Tech During the reporting period, the CIC delivered five EDI training sessions led by its Founder be-tween November 2024 and April 2025. Sessions took place across three Tramshed Tech ven-ues: Griffin Place in Newport, Goodsheds in Barry and the Palace Building in Swansea. The training explored allyship, privilege and workplace change, providing opportunities to develop understanding of inclusion and discuss practical challenges. Engagement with participants also identified gaps in EDI knowledge and understanding. These insights informed the focus of the 2025 conference and brought potential award nominees to the Founder’s attention. 3. Mastering Diversity Conference 2025 The CIC delivered the Mastering Diversity Conference on 11 September 2025 at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff. The programme brought together community representatives, people sharing lived experience, businesses, public-sector organisations, educators and policymakers through presentations, themed zones, panel discussions and networking. The conference provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore barriers to inclusion and connect community perspectives with organisations able to contribute expertise and sup-port. Partner feedback subsequently informed the CIC’s planning for future events. 4. Global Empowerment and Inclusion Summit partnership Mastering Diversity CIC contributed as a knowledge partner to the Global Empowerment and Inclusion Summit held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 26 June 2025. The summit was convened by TechCeFaCos Group and curated by the Founder, Bernie Davies, who also serves as TechCeFaCos Group’s Patron and Main Representative to the United Nations. The partnership created opportunities for Welsh community and professional perspectives to contribute to international discussions on inclusion, leadership and sustainable development. TechCeFaCos Group holds ECOSOC Special Consultative Status; this status belongs to TechCeFaCos Group entirely. 5. Documentary and lived-experience storytelling The CIC’s wider work includes the Diverse Voices documentary, developed through collabora-tion between Bernie Davies and filmmaker Georgios Dimitropoulos. The documentary draws on interviews, case studies and discussions connected with Mastering Diversity’s work, provid-ing a means of sharing community experiences and exploring barriers to inclusion beyond the conference setting. Any production milestones included as activities within this reporting period have been con-firmed against the production records. The full public screening at the November 2025 awards took place after the year-end and should be treated as a subsequent development, but it was produced well within the accounting period. 6. Public conversations and digital engagement Mastering Diversity’s LinkedIn Live discussions and social media activity provide additional platforms for sharing professional knowledge and lived experience. Topics featured on the website include public-service inclusion, youth mental health, period dignity, representation and social cohesion. For this report, specific broadcasts should be included only where their dates fall within the re-porting period. Publicising zone content and using LinkedIn Live sessions as part of the re-sponse to conference consultation were improvements implemented for the 2026 conference. 7. Advisory expertise and cross-sector partnerships During its establishment and development, the CIC brought together an advisory panel with ex-pertise across business, finance, health, technology, education, community inclusion and me-dia. Its partnerships supported opportunities for knowledge exchange, event participation and connections between community voices and professional organisations. This collaborative approach helped the CIC develop its activities around both specialist exper-tise and lived experience. 8. Preparation for the Mastering Diversity Awards 2025 Work undertaken before the year-end included nomination and preparation activity for the 2025 awards. This continued the CIC’s work to identify and recognise contributions to inclusive communities, workplaces and services. The awards ceremony itself took place at Senedd Cymru on 18 November 2025, outside this reporting period. Please review the placement of the documentary and digital-engagement wording and resolve the points in item 9 before finalising the report. The 2026 conference, youth enterprise survey, July 2026 UN address and football initiative beginning in October 2025 should remain separate from activities delivered during this reporting period.
The company’s stakeholders include community participants, conference delegates, sponsors, partner organisations, speakers, volunteers and training participants involved in its work to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. During the reporting period ended 30 September 2025, consultation took place through engagement with training participants and email correspondence with conference partners and sponsors. Mastering Diversity CIC delivered five EDI training sessions led by its Founder between November 2024 and April 2025, across Tramshed Tech venues in Newport, Barry and Swansea. Along-side imparting knowledge, these sessions provided opportunities to hear participants’ experiences and identify gaps in EDI knowledge and understanding. These insights informed the focus of the 2025 conference and brought potential award nominees to the Founder’s attention. Feedback following the 2025 conference recognised the value of the event while identifying opportunities to review the zone structure, support partner participation and improve audience engagement. The Founder acknowledged this feedback and circulated it to the Board for consideration. Further discussion with partners was proposed to inform future planning. Subsequent developments – outside the reporting period In response to this consultation, changes were implemented for the September 2026 conference. Partners and sponsors explained their zone activities on stage during the morning ceremony, helping delegates make informed choices about participation. LinkedIn Live sessions and social media posts also publicised zone content well in advance of the conference. These changes were intended to improve awareness of the programme, increase the visibility of partner contributions and support engagement with the zones.
