The company has designed and printed a card game about urban botany. The company distributes this card game through direct sales as well as distribution free of charge to community groups, with a focus on young people in cities and those with disabilities. The community, particularly urban communities, benefit from having an aesthetically pleasing and entertaining way of learning about the natural world right on their doorsteps, without necessarily having easy access to more rural ‘wild’ areas. This builds a connection between people and nature, which has been shown to improve mental wellbeing and hopefully creates a sense of stewardship for their local ecosystems.
Stakeholders are young people living in urban areas who do not have readily available access to what are usually considered nature-rich areas e.g., national parks, the countryside. We identified a need for more accessible natural education. The company receives feedback from groups who were gifted decks, as well as personal buyers. Feedback has been positive, particularly complimentary on the graphics and enjoyment from playing the game. It is also achieving the main aim of making people who play the game more aware of the plants they see around them. For 2026/27, the company is preparing for a second printing of the deck and will implement some changes into the design, upon consultation with board/card game designers. The company is exploring ways of holding workshops in local communities around urban botany.
Directors are not paid for their time in managing the company. Directors Maximoss Moorcroft and Ruby Scott-Geddes have claimed for use of home as office (£312 each), and Ruby Scott-Geddes was paid in their capacity as an artist to create the artwork for the card game.
