Cay continued to provide educational services for special needs students aged 11 to 18 increasing student numbers from 13 at year start to 24 at year end. The students have a variety of issues, primarily anxiety, autism, ADHD and include a number of school refusers. They are either unable to attend mainstream schools or have been absent from mainstream schools for long periods. All students undertake a curriculum of English, maths, life coaching (both to help them deal with their issues and to learn to live independent lives). We work with them to identify their ambitions for future employment and help them develop the skills to achieve this, where they are not sure we have them experience a range of employment related activities. The objective is to either return the student to mainstream education or provide them with the qualifications, skills and experience to live independently. For the period: 75% of students achieving an average attendance of over 85%, the others were due to health issues Enrolled 6 student for GCSEs in English Language / English Literature / Maths / Geography / Child Development for June 2026 In tandem with this we expanded the range of activities available to include Child development and Digital music creation. All students have access to these and the existing services like podcasting. The employment related courses are all designed around the needs and potential future employment types of our students
The primary stakeholders are West Sussex County Council and the students and their parents. The IAP agreement with West Sussex requires a quarterly review and report consisting of 4 set Key Performance Indicators covering attendance, academic achievement and student/parent feedback. To complete the reports to West Sussex we undertake quarterly reviews with students and parents. This is in addition to the Annual Reviews we undertake as part of the EHCP process. To date the feedback has been positive with minor changes to the curriculum to adapt to the needs of some students.
Two directors (Victoria Read and Wendy Jones) are paid employees for Cay College CIC. Amount is included in the staff costs in Income and Expenditure of company accounts
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
