During its first financial year, Create Curiosity CIC focused on supporting the people of Hastings, Bexhill and the surrounding areas. Our activities centred on providing guidance and support to parents, carers and families, helping them to develop their own life skills while encouraging and supporting their children's learning and development. We paid particular attention to reaching families from lower income backgrounds, and those who may have experienced family breakdown. All of our sessions were designed to strengthen bonds within the community and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness among those that took part. We also aimed to upskill parents and carers so that they felt more confident in their parenting role. By building parents' confidence and leadership skills, we supported them to engage more fully and be more present with their children, further strengthening family bonds through shared learning and fun activities. Sessions also covered physical activity and healthy cookery, helping participants to look after themselves better, getting children involved in cookery, and contributing towards reducing obesity and supporting positive mental health. In addition, our activities encouraged the community to come together to use and care for local green and blue spaces, including community clean-up events, benefiting the wider environment as well as those who took part. Over the course of the first financial year the Company delivered free family workshops throughout the school holidays, as well as term time sessions for pre-school aged children. In total, just over 200 families attended our sessions, many with more than one child, meaning we reached a significant number of children and young people across the community during our first year. Feedback from families taking part was very positive, with parents reporting that the whole family benefited from attending the sessions together. Families particularly valued that cost was never a barrier to participation, as all sessions were provided free of charge, ensuring the activities were accessible to those who needed them most.
The Company's key stakeholders are the parents, carers and families who attend our workshops and sessions, along with their children. Other stakeholders include the volunteers and staff who deliver our sessions, and the wider local community who benefit from activities such as our green and blue space clean-ups. Following each workshop or course, we ask every adult attendee to complete an evaluation form. This allows us to gather feedback directly from families after each session, helping us to constantly monitor what we are getting right as well as identifying areas for improvement. The majority of feedback received has been excellent, with parents particularly appreciating the activities and the way these are linked to supporting their child's development. Session tutors and support staff are asked to reflect on each session and continually look to improve. Feedback from these evaluations has directly shaped how we plan and deliver sessions. As a result of suggestions received, we have made the following changes: Introduced an overview at the start of each term so that families know in advance what stories and themes will be covered in upcoming Sensational Stories sessions. Introduced independent learning stations for children who prefer not to take part directly in group activities. Adjusted the running order of sessions, moving family activities to the end so that children have more freedom to explore them after craft and phonics activities. Simplified some games to make them more accessible for younger children, and introduced quieter, themed activities as an alternative for children who do not wish to take part in busier group games. Following our first round of litter picking workshop, we plan to provide laminated recycling sign guides so children can learn to identify these signs both at home and out in the community. Evaluation forms are collected at the end of every session, meaning stakeholder consultation is an ongoing and continuous process rather than a one-off exercise. This ensures our activities keep evolving in direct response to the needs and feedback of the families we support.
Full details of one director's remuneration for operational delivery work (including risk assessments, design work, and workshop support) are disclosed within the itemized notes of the accompanying annual accounts for this financial year.
