Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention. These are the company's first financial statements and cover the period from incorporation on 6 January 2025 to 31 January 2026.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Turnover represents the value of goods sold in the company's retail shop, excluding value added tax, recognised at the point of sale. Commission receivable from the Post Office, National Lottery and similar agency services is recognised as other operating income when the service is provided.
Stock comprises goods held for resale and is valued at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to sell.
At the balance sheet date the company had net liabilities of £2,703. The directors have confirmed their intention to continue to support the company and not to seek repayment of the amounts owed to them, totalling £96,949, for at least twelve months from the date of approval of these financial statements. On this basis the directors consider it appropriate to prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis.
Goodwill arising on the acquisition of the trade and assets of the retail business in November 2025 is included at cost less accumulated amortisation and impairment. The business was acquired shortly before the end of the period and no amortisation has been charged in this period. Goodwill will be amortised from the following period on a straight line basis over its estimated useful life.
