Brockweir CIC was set up with the purpose of carrying out activities which benefit the community, in particular, carrying out events which benefit a range of community groups with different needs in Brockweir and surrounding areas. In terms of events held by CIC for the community in 2025 we held our annual events of the charity cricket match and fireworks as well as hosting a new 1 day music event called Goatfest. We also continued to support the Mackenzie Hall run a range of events to benefit the community throughout the year including the senior citizens Christmas lunch, film nights and bar nights. We provided insurance coverage for an open garden event and also made donations to the bi-annual community burns night as well as the youth club. Our subcommittee for the play area held their annual Christmas light switch on event which saw children from the community had the opportunity to meet Santa, make decorations and a local brass band came along and played Christmas carols. Additionally the CIC has supported another recently established not for profit, Brockweir CBS, in their project to purchase the local village pub with donation of profits from a variety of events held.
The company’s key stakeholders are residents of the village and surrounding areas, volunteers and participants involved in the company’s activities and events, and third-party organisations and providers who support or participate in those activities. During the year, the company consulted with stakeholders through direct conversations at events, feedback from residents and volunteers, communications through the local village news magazine, and discussions and debriefs following events. The Directors actively encourage stakeholders to provide comments and suggestions and consider this feedback when planning and delivering future activities. An example of feedback received during the year related to the timing of music at the company’s fireworks event. Residents expressed concern that music continuing later into the evening could have a detrimental impact on the surrounding area and suggested that it should finish earlier. The Directors considered this feedback and, in response, implemented a change to the event arrangements so that all music finished by 9.00pm. The company continues to consider feedback received from stakeholders when reviewing and planning its activities. Where suggestions are practical and consistent with the company’s objectives, the Directors seek to implement them and use the feedback to improve future events and minimise any potential adverse impact on the local community.
