During the financial year, Voices In Tune CIC provided three weekly, low-cost community choirs open to all adults, with opportunities for members to perform free of charge in local community settings. The company also facilitated two ‘Singing for Wellbeing’ groups on behalf of Northumberland Recovery College, each of which met weekly throughout the year. These sessions were free to attend for anyone who lives or works in Northumberland. The company also provided additional one-off and pop-up community singing opportunities and performances. These activities benefited the community by creating opportunities for people to meet others, develop friendships and experience a greater sense of connection and belonging. More than 350 people each week were able to participate in group singing and experience benefits to their wellbeing, including reduced feelings of anxiety and stress and improvements in confidence and social wellbeing. Regular performances were also provided in community settings, including schools, shopping centres and parks, enabling more than 1,000 people during the year to enjoy live choral music free of charge. Participation in singing and performing also helped participants to develop greater confidence, self-esteem and a sense of achievement. The company also participated in community events including World Singing Day and events supporting voluntary organisations such as Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The company’s main stakeholders are the people who participate in its community choirs and Singing for Wellbeing groups. We consult with participants regularly through evaluation forms, verbal feedback and testimonials, as well as through informal conversations during sessions. Feedback from participants is taken into account when planning and developing the company’s activities. This includes considering views about the content and delivery of sessions, performance opportunities and other community singing activities. Where appropriate, activities are adapted in response to feedback to ensure that they remain accessible, enjoyable and beneficial to participants. This ongoing consultation helps the company to understand the experiences and needs of the people who use its services and to ensure that its activities continue to provide a positive benefit to the community.
The total directors’ remuneration for the financial year was £38,842. One director received £38,362 and one director received £480. There were no advances, credits or guarantees outstanding to any director at the balance sheet date.
