Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
High Voltage Grid Services Ltd is a private company, limited by shares, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 15729347 . The registered office is Unit C, Hambrook Business Park, The Stream, Hambrook, Bristol, BS16 1RQ.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 section 1A Small Entities "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
2.2. Going Concern Disclosure
The directors have assessed the Company's ability to continue as a going concern and are satisfied that it has adequate resources to remain in operational existence and meet its liabilities as they fall due for a period of at least twelve months from the date of approval of these financial statements. Accordingly, the directors have adopted the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.
In reaching this conclusion, the directors have considered the Company's secured order book, including signed contracts extending through the current financial year and the subsequent two financial years. These contractual commitments provide a high degree of visibility over future revenue and expected cash inflows, supporting management's forecasts and demonstrating the Company's ability to generate sufficient funds to meet its obligations as they fall due.
The long-term nature of these contracts reduces dependence on short-term trading performance, strengthens liquidity, and enhances the Company's overall financial resilience. Based on this assessment, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the Company will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future and therefore consider the use of the going concern basis of accounting to be appropriate.
2.3. Significant judgements and estimations
In the application of the company's accounting policies management is required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying values of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and underlying assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. The critical judgements made by management that have a significant effect on the amounts recognised in the financial statements are described below.
In common with many entities in he construction industry, the company is required to estimate the margin of construction projects in the calculation of the accrual of corresponding costs. The estimate is based on detailed budgeting and project forecasts. The value of the accrual at the end of the period is £3,737,049.
2.4. Turnover
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances.
Rendering of services
Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract, calculated by measuring the completion of the proportion of the contract completed.
2.5. Intangible Fixed Assets and Amortisation - Other Intangible
Other intangible assets are website design costs. It is amortised to the profit and loss account over its estimated economic life of 4 years.
Page 2
Page 3
2.6. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Plant & Machinery 33.33% straight line
Motor Vehicles 20% reducing balance
Fixtures & Fittings 33.33% straight line
Computer Equipment 33.33% straight line
2.7. Leasing and Hire Purchase Contracts
Assets obtained under finance leases are capitalised as tangible fixed assets. Assets acquired under finance leases are depreciated over the shorter of the lease term and their useful lives. Assets acquired under hire purchase contracts are depreciated over their useful lives. Finance leases are those where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership are assumed by the company. Obligations under such agreements are included in the creditors net of the finance charge allocated to future periods. The finance element of the rental payment is charged to the profit and loss account so as to produce a constant periodic rate of charge on the net obligation outstanding in each period.
Rentals applicable to operating leases where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership remain with the lessor are charged to the profit and loss account as incurred.
2.8. Financial Instruments
The company enters into basic financial instrument transactions that result in the recognition of financial assets and liabilities like trade and other debtors and creditors.
Debt instruments (other than those wholly repayable or receivable within one year), including loans and account receivables and payables, are initially measured at the transaction price and subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Debt instruments that are payable or receivable within one year, typically trade debtors and creditors, are measured, initially and subsequently, at the undiscounted amount of the cash or other consideration expected to be paid or received.
Financial assets that are measured at cost and amortised cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If such evidence is identified, an impairment loss is recognised in the statement of comprehensive income.
For financial assets measured at amortised cost, the impairment loss is measured as the difference between carrying amount and the present value of estimated cash flows discounted at the original effective interest rate.
For financial assets measured at cost less impairment, the impairment loss is measured as the difference between an asset’s carrying amount and best estimate of the recoverable amount.
2.9. Taxation
Income tax expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable and deferred tax.
The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from profit as reported in the statement of comprehensive income because of items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and items that are never taxable or deductible. The company's liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period.
Deferred tax is recognised on timing differences between the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities in the financial statements and the corresponding tax bases used in the computation of taxable profit. Deferred tax liabilities are generally recognised for all taxable timing differences. Deferred tax assets are generally recognised for all deductible temporary differences to the extent that it is probable that taxable profits will be available against which those deductible timing differences can be utilised. The carrying amount of deferred tax assets is reviewed at the end of each reporting period and reduced to the extent that it is no longer probable that sufficient taxable profits will be available to allow all or part of the asset to be recovered.
Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured at the tax rates that are expected to apply in the period in which the liability is settled or the asset realised, based on tax rates (and tax laws) that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period. Deferred tax liabilities are presented within provisions for liabilities and deferred tax assets within debtors. The measurement of deferred tax liabilities and assets reflect the tax consequences that would follow from the manner in which the Company expects, at the end of the reporting period, to recover or settle the carrying amount of its assets and liabilities.
Current and deferred tax are recognised in profit or loss for the year, except when they relate to items that are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, in which case current and deferred tax are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively.

11. Prior year restatement
In preparing the May 2026 year end accounts, it became apparent that the accounting policy around the recognition of income on long term contracts was too prudent.  This has resulted in the need to recognise additional revenue in that year to paint a more true and fair picture of the accounts.
