In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. This year Tregidden Orchard primarily ran it’s core programme ‘Dar Durra’ which is the name we are publicly operating under. We offered a range of creative and land-based activities, for free, low cost and/or sliding scale to people and families in the community. This included tree planting, clay workshops, apple pressing and juice-making and community food sharing among other activities, and we took on some regular volunteers to support the work on the land. We worked with around 30 families across the year (with at least one child) and an additional 30 or so adults. The open days, workshops and volunteer sessions on our 5-acre permaculture site allow people to get their hands in the earth, meet like-minded people, learn new skills, increase confidence and local cohesion and help protect the biodiversity of the land.
We have a key stakeholder group of 12 local adults, all of whom live and work on the Lizard Peninsula or close by, and support us to plan and run workshops (many of these are creatives and landworkers who we were able to pay to develop and run workshops). This group comes up with a majority of the ideas for what to run on the side, with lots of informal input and ideas from the local community, and their friends and families. We are closely connected with local farms, schools and community groups who also feed people into our activities, and we always ask participants what they’ve enjoyed, what they’d like to do more of and how they’d like to use the land.
