During its first financial year, Clewer & Dedworth Together CIC organised and supported a range of community events and initiatives aimed at strengthening community cohesion, reducing social isolation and providing affordable, inclusive activities for residents of Clewer, Dedworth and the wider Windsor community. Our flagship event, Rock the Rec, attracted approximately 1,200 attendees in August 2025. To help remove financial barriers, we provided 50 complimentary tickets, accompanied by children's meal vouchers, to people who might otherwise have been unable to attend. Grant funding also enabled us to increase accessibility and provide additional inclusive activities through Busy Buttons and Buttons & Bubbles. Our November Christmas Fair welcomed approximately 500 visitors, bringing local families, businesses, stallholders and community groups together. Additional activities included a Fire Walk fundraiser, Christmas lights sales at local events and a community wreath-making workshop. In July 2025, we launched Get Switched On at Woody's Cafe, providing two laptops for community use to help address digital exclusion. Our Community Poppy Project brought together local schools, care homes, community groups and residents, resulting in three large poppy displays around Clewer Memorial for Remembrance Day. QR codes encouraged donations directly to the Royal British Legion. Across our two principal events alone, we recorded approximately 1,700 attendances. Through these activities, the CIC has promoted social inclusion, intergenerational participation, community wellbeing, digital accessibility and support for local enterprise. Our work has been made possible through volunteers, grants, fundraising and generous local business sponsorship. Any surplus generated is retained and reinvested for community benefit rather than distributed for private gain.
Following Rock the Rec 2025, Clewer & Dedworth Together CIC conducted a community feedback survey involving 32 respondents, including general ticket holders, stallholders and performers, to understand their experiences and identify opportunities for improvement. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive: 75% rated the event Excellent or Very Good. 87.5% indicated they would attend again. 96.9% considered the event good value for money. 29 of the 31 respondents who answered the accessibility question felt the event was accessible. Respondents particularly welcomed the family-friendly atmosphere, live entertainment, local performers and the opportunity to bring their own picnics. The consultation also identified areas for improvement, including wheelchair accessibility, the positioning of toilets and performance stages, stallholder visibility, food choices and the cost of children's rides. This feedback directly informed planning for Rock the Rec 2026, with subsequent changes including repositioning toilet facilities, reviewing wheelchair access, relocating both performance stages to the front of the site and improving stallholder visibility. Feedback regarding food choices and ride costs was also acknowledged for consideration in future event planning. The CIC remains committed to listening to residents, volunteers, businesses and community organisations and using their feedback to develop accessible, inclusive and enjoyable activities that respond to local needs.
