During the year ended 31 May 2025 the company continued to operate its community food business from 870 South Street, Glasgow, providing affordable, freshly prepared food to the local community in Scotstoun and the surrounding areas of north-west Glasgow. The company operated its community cafe and food production kitchen, prepared and delivered meals within the local community, and provided food services under contract which supported the continuation of its community activities. Community activities during the year included the operation of a kids club providing food and activities for local children, community and social events (together £18,753), and charitable donations of £1,285. The company employed an average of 14 local staff during the year and engaged local casual labour, with total employment costs in excess of £940,000 benefiting the local economy. Trading conditions were significantly more difficult than in the prior year, with turnover reducing from £3.3m to £2.35m, and the company recorded a substantial loss. The directors have supported the company financially and are taking steps to stabilise the business so that its community benefit activities can continue.
The company's stakeholders include the residents of Scotstoun and north-west Glasgow who use its cafe and food services, its employees, local community groups, its customers and funders. The directors consult stakeholders informally on an ongoing basis through day-to-day contact in the cafe and in the community, feedback from customers and community groups, and discussions with staff. Feedback received during the year informed the range of food provided and the community events and kids club activities delivered.
The aggregate remuneration paid to the directors of the company in respect of the year ended 31 May 2025 was £314,000 (comprising salaries paid through the company's payroll; this figure includes an estimated element for the period from June to November 2024, during which payroll was operated on the company's previous payroll system). No other remuneration or compensation for loss of office was paid to the directors. There was no remuneration which is required to be disclosed under this Part which has not been disclosed in the accounts or in this report.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
