Handam Refill Station CIC consists of: Refill Station Handam Refill Station CIC makes sustainable living simple and affordable for the local community. The welcoming refill station brings the power of choice back to customers' shopping experience. Located in Aberfeldy, customers can fill up on exactly what they need – from aromatic herbs and spices to wholesome beans, pulses, pasta, and rice. The CIC connects customers with fresh, organic fruit and vegetables alongside local eggs from trusted suppliers. The beauty of refilling lies in its simplicity: customers bring their own containers, buy only what they need, and leave with both money saved and the satisfaction of knowing they've reduced packaging waste. Every scoop, every bag, every jar filled is a small but meaningful step toward a healthier planet and a stronger community. Whether customers are trying to reduce waste for the first time or are already on their sustainability journey, the refill station makes it easy to make choices that feel good for both families and the environment. Reuse Project Launched in January 2024, the Reuse Project gives preloved items a second chance at life. The CIC accepts donations of small furniture, home decor, fabrics (sold by weight), DIY supplies, arts and crafts materials, frames, curtains, tools, DIY and gardening books diverting them from landfill and making them available to the community at affordable prices. Every purchase supports the CIC's mission, as all profits are reinvested into community benefiting initiatives. By choosing second-hand, customers find unique treasures for their homes while actively participating in reducing waste and supporting local sustainability efforts. Tool Library Launched in July 2025, the tool library is already making a difference in how the community approaches projects. Because not every job requires owning every tool, the CIC has created a space where community members can borrow what they need for home improvement, gardening, and creative projects without the expense and storage challenges of ownership. From power drills to speciality gardening equipment, the tool library makes quality tools accessible to everyone while reducing the number of items sitting unused in garages and sheds across the community. It's another step toward the CIC's vision of a community that shares resources, reduces waste, and supports each other in practical, meaningful ways. Whether tackling a weekend DIY project or trying a new gardening technique, the tool library helps community members get the job done while keeping the community's environmental impact light. Handam - Refill Station CIC operates with 1 full time and 1 part time members of staff in addition to regular help from volunteers. We aim to continue to passionately and consistently support our local communities on their journey to reduction and elimination of their use of single use plastic packaging, in learning new ways to reuse existing resources and to take advantage of emerging new innovations, and simply how to correctly recycle what they can in our area. Since closure of Pitlochry shop in December 2024 we have been focusing on repaying our debts and bringing our Aberfeldy shop to a be a self sufficient business
Handam - Refill CIC has a board consisting of 3 Directors who meet at least twice yearly to discuss the financial progress of the business, formulate new ideas and discuss ways to im-plement any changes and proposals recommended and agreed. The directorship is a close and committed group of individuals. All staff are encouraged to gather feedback and suggestions from customers on an ongoing daily basis through their interactions and conversations in the shops. Regular staff meetings are held at which customer feedback and suggestions are discussed and taken forward as appropriate.
