Teign Greens has continued to Supply the local Teign Valley community and beyond with affordable, locally-grown organic Vegetables as an ethical, local and dependable alternative to the supermarket. During the year, we have expanded to a new collection point in Marsh Barton in Exeter, bringing our total to 8 collection points. We hope to enable more local people to access eating nutritious and sustainably produced local veg every week, promoting health, reducing food miles and helping create a resilient local food system locally. Our regular volunteering programme has continued - over the past year we engaged 80 volunteers, including 33 new volunteers, alongside 38 corporate volunteers who joined us across two volunteering days. Together, volunteers have contributed 5,580 hours to the farm through weekly sessions, residential placements and our trainee programme. We've hosted families, people of all ages from babies in arms to older people, people with learning difficulties and support needs, people experiencing mental health challenges and refugees. This includes two students from Orchard Manor School Who come with their support worker to join us on the farm on most Tuesdays. We've also engaged with Running Deer SEN School, Devon Connect and Oakwood Specialist College, to provide younger volunteers with work experience and opportunities to develop new skills. We welcomed six members of Together Devon, an enterprise which supports people recovering from addiction, to join us for weekly volunteering sessions on the farm. In total, we hosted 52 Tuesday volunteer sessions, Saturday sessions, three corporate volunteering days and eight community events, welcoming around 550 attendees. Our volunteer survey, carried out in the winter months, told us that volunteer satisfaction remained exceptionally high, with a 100% recommendation rate from the volunteers who completed the survey. In response to volunteer and membership feedback, we've held a number of new volunteer-led events, including film nights, social gatherings, workshops and farm lunches, helping to build an even stronger sense of community. We've also welcomed a new voluntary Director to the team and hosted a year-long trainee who Completed Level 3 qualification in Land Based Regenerative Systems at the Apricot Centre jn Totnes. We continue to grow using better than organic methods, promoting biodiversity through our tree alleys, green manures and wildflowers strips. Teign Greens continues to partner with food poverty organisations including Teign Valley Larder, Chudfridge, Bovey Tracey Community Fridge, reducing food waste and food poverty locally by donating surplus or grade out veg and members veg bags whilst on holiday every week, meaning there is virtually no wasted veg in our system. We also supplied local businesses & events such as Embercombe, The Stage in Exeter and Hippo Cafe in Moreton- hampstead subsidising Our work and reducing food miles.
Teign Green's stakeholders are members of the local community who sign up to the vegetable box scheme, and those who volunteer to help with the growing and local panners such as the Teign Valley Larder. We held a volunteer survey of all our regular volunteers in February 2026, in which 25 of our regular volunteers participated. This feedback fed into planning volunteering opportunities and ways to increase our impact for the 26-27 season. Furthermore, all Teign Greens members were invited to complete a detailed anonymous survey in November 2025 which has informed the veg growing for the 26-27 season, and also the timing and format of open days and volunteering opportunities. Volunteers and members are also regularly consulted face to face whilst Volunteering at the farm or at collection time. Meetings are regularly held with community partners such as Oxen Park Farm, On the Hill and the Teign Valley Larder. Teign Greens is well known in the local community, sending out weekly email newsletters and monthly contributions to the parish magazine with our contact information. Feedback has largely been very positive, and the team has adapted practice in line with constructive feedback wherever possible.
