In the year of 25-26 Roadblock fulfilled their community objects by: Providing professional events at low cost where we shared the joy and science of Bike power. Worked with over 50 partner organisations to build resilience and connection in our organising community. Coordinated and took part in events and projects with people from all backgrounds, especially focusing on Active Transport, Off-grid Power and Social Justice, while supporting inclusivity at all our events. We helped the community of Armley and New Wortley to use their bike powered stage, the ‘Armley Roadblock’. This machine was built in partnership with 16 partner organisation and involved 1800 local people across the Ideation, Design, Fabrication, and now use of the invention. It has supported new and existing events in its first full year and is prompting new work and community pride. Event Names: Beeston Festival, Leeds Marathon, Armley Festival, Woodhouse Green Fair, Armley Roadblock Unveiling, Becketts Park Picnic, Chapeltown Arts Festival, Gledhow Valley Woods, Northern Green Gathering, Horsforth Green Fair, Halloween Ride-around, Dixon’s Open Day, Christmas Ride Around, Ceilidh, Little London Community Day, Unity Day. Our events have reached over 30,000 people in this year. All partners who we worked with have recommended us and in all cases we have been invited back to collaborate in the future.
We are consistently engaging with the local community at events we attend to try to understand exactly what it is that we can bring to the table. Based on feedback we might for example add events to our calendar that see significant interest or modify what bikes we bring to an event/the role we play at a given event. Additionally we are in the planning phase for a new bike being built, in a similar manner to the Armley Roadblock, so we are beginning to solicit ideas from the Beeston area in preparation for this.
The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £14,167. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director's loss of office which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
