During the financial year, Hedges and Meadows CIC began practical biodiversity and habitat-restoration work at Dunard in Fintry. The company received a £1,400 grant from the Graham and Henrietta Somervell Wildlife Trust, paid through Brodies LLP, to support its conservation objectives. The company paid for a wild meadow to be cut back and cleared. This began preparing the site for improved habitat and more sustainable management. The company also purchased wildflower seed, plants and shrubs for the meadow, together with hand tools, gardening tools and a small electric chainsaw for continued site management. These activities benefited the community by beginning the restoration of a local natural area and creating better conditions for native plants, pollinators and other wildlife. The tools and materials acquired will also allow the directors to continue managing and improving the site directly.
