Company activities and impact

Gorilla Man Fitness CIC delivers accessible community fitness sessions across various locations in and around Newark, alongside personalised one-to-one support. During the financial year, the CIC supported around 120 participants, including older adults, people living with disabilities, young people, people experiencing mental health challenges and those at risk of social isolation. Sessions are adapted to individual abilities and needs, helping remove barriers to exercise and providing opportunities for participants to improve their physical health, confidence and wellbeing, while also reducing isolation and encouraging community connection. The CIC has also provided individual rehabilitation support, including helping a participant work towards walking again following a serious injury. The CIC mentors two volunteers with disabilities, supporting them to build confidence, develop skills and work towards fitness instruction qualifications. The CIC also contributes to the wider Newark community through involvement with Scouts, sports and charitable events.

Consultation with stakeholders

The CIC's stakeholders include participants, volunteers, relatives and carers, and organisations supporting or referring participants. Stakeholders are consulted informally through regular sessions and conversations about individual needs, progress and barriers to participation. Activities are adapted in response to this feedback to ensure sessions remain accessible and appropriate to participants' abilities and goals. Where the CIC works with an organisation and formal reporting is requested, written progress reports are provided on participants' engagement and development. The CIC also works closely with its volunteers to support their individual needs and development goals.
