  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

Company activities and impact

Coloured Hearts CIC continued to operate as a community based education services provider serving residents of Gateshead and the surrounding areas during the reporting period. The company provided affordable access to education services and training targeting Women and Girls who have suffered from Sexual Exploitation. Any surplus generated by the company was retained within the organisation and used to support its community objectives, ensuring that the benefits of its activities remained available to the local community. The directors consider that the company's activities during the year have continued to satisfy its community interest objectives and have delivered tangible social and environmental benefits to the community it serves
