Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Leasehold improvements are depreciated on a straight-line basis over the shorter of their estimated useful lives and the lease term. Fixtures, fittings and equipment are depreciated at 25% a year on a straight-line basis. Depreciation commences when an asset is ready and available for use. No depreciation was charged in this period because the premises and related assets were not ready and available for use at 28 February 2026.
Land & buildings
Improvement to leasehold building over 20 years 5% straight line
Fixtures & fittings
25% straight line
Operating Lease and lease incentive
Operating lease payments, including the benefit of rent-free periods, are recognised as an expense on a straight-line basis over the expected lease term. The company has used the five-year period to the tenant break date as the expected lease term.
Rent paid in advance is included in calculating the cumulative lease balance and is offset against the accrued straight-line rent expense. The resulting net balance is recognised within creditors.
The refundable rent deposit is recognised separately within debtors and is not included within the lease expense.
