Company activities and impact

Reset WSM CIC has operated as an alternative learning provision for the children and young people who are not currently accessing a full time education due to their significant needs and social, emotional, mental health. We help them to develop their strategies to manage their emotions and build their positive well being. This enables them to access learning and transition back into a school placement. We have also ran a mentoring project for children and young people who have significant mental health needs and are not able to access school for a variety of reasons. In the mentoring session the children are able to set achievable goals linked with their mental health and work towards these 1:1 with their mentor. We have also run targeted support groups around a theme such as ; girls self-esteem and confidence building and boys mental health. These groups were free to access and provided social opportunities for children and young people who struggle to access out of school activities and need social opportunities. We are also running a youth awards in North Somerset where children and young people from across North Somerset are nominated for one of the 12 categories. The finalists are invited to an award ceremony which is planned to take place at the Winter Gardens which is a historic community space. The awards ceremony will also showcase local groups such as dance groups, choirs, gymnastics etc

Consultation with stakeholders

Reset WSM works with Children and young people aged 4-16 and their families. We planned open targeted support session to consult parents and children about what they wanted. We then used this feedback to plan the targeted support themes and group activities. For the HAF programmes we ask that children and young people as well as parents/carers who attended complete an evaluation form. We use this feedback to inform the plans for the next HAF. For the mentoring support that we offer we ask the children to complete a questionnaire about their needs and what outcomes they would like from our service and use this to plan activities and set targets. We then ask both parents and young people to complete an evaluation. For the alternative learning provision, the children, referring schools and parents complete registration forms that outline outcomes and hopes for the provision which we use to plan support packages. We also send out feedback forms to parents/carers termly for feedback and respond to this in our practise. The children complete a child’s voice questionnaire for their termly reports
