During the financial year, Wheels of Ananda CIC delivered accessible, trauma-aware mindful movement and wellbeing programmes across North Devon, supporting people who may face barriers to mainstream physical activity and wellbeing provision. Our work included gentle yoga, chair yoga, Qigong, breathwork, relaxation, mindfulness and somatic awareness practices, delivered through regular groups, specialist programmes and community activities. In 2025, we supported 180 individual people across North Devon, including older adults, people living with long-term or life-limiting illness, women affected by domestic and sexual abuse, and people experiencing social isolation. We worked alongside health and community partners including GPs, Social Prescribing teams, North Devon Hospice, the Fern Cancer Unit and domestic abuse services. Our activities were provided free or through optional donations wherever possible, helping reduce barriers to participation. Of the 150 participants who provided feedback, 100% reported a positive impact on their wellbeing. Feedback highlighted improved physical confidence and mobility, increased relaxation and emotional wellbeing, and stronger social connection and sense of belonging. Participants particularly valued the friendships, companionship and supportive community developed through our groups. Through this work, Wheels of Ananda CIC contributes to healthier, more connected communities across North Devon.
Wheels of Ananda CIC’s stakeholders include participants and community members who use our services, as well as organisations and professionals who work alongside us, including the Fern Cancer Centre, North Devon Hospice, GPs, Social Prescribing and wellbeing teams, and other local health and community organisations. During the year, we carried out two community surveys designed to gather views from a cross-section of our participants and the wider community. We also gathered ongoing feed-back through evaluations, conversations and reflections following our activities and programmes. We have regularly discussed the needs and experiences of the people we support with partner organisations and professionals, including the Fern Cancer Centre and North Devon Hospice. This has helped us understand local needs, identify gaps in support and ensure our activities remain relevant and accessible. In response to this feedback, we have continued to develop accessible, trauma-aware and choice-based movement and wellbeing activities, including gentle movement, relaxation, breathwork, mindfulness and specialist wellbeing sessions. Feedback has also informed the development of community events that place greater emphasis on social connection, friend-ship and reducing isolation. We use stakeholder feedback as an ongoing part of reviewing and developing our services.
