During the reporting period, Growth for Change CIC delivered its first full programme: Men in Presence, a 12 week emotional wellbeing and connection building course for men experiencing isolation, low confidence, and challenges with mental or emotional health. This programme formed the entirety of our operational activity for the year and represents a significant, measurable impact on individuals, families and the wider community. Across the 12 weeks, we supported a core group of seven men from diverse backgrounds, including single fathers, neurodivergent men, individuals recently completing rehabilitation programmes, and those living with long term social isolation. For many participants, this was the first time they had ever accessed a space where their feelings, needs and inner experiences could be explored safely and without judgement. The programme combined movement, mindfulness, nature based activities and facilitated group work, all grounded in our Connecting with Needs framework. This approach helped participants develop emotional awareness, empathy, communication skills and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. The impact was both quantitative and qualitative: - Participants completed self assessments in Week 1, Week 6 and Week 12. - Average scores increased from 3.89 to 7.47, representing a 92% overall improvement across emotional awareness, communication, empathy, connection and self regulation. - Men reported calmer conversations at home, improved relationships with partners and children, and a stronger sense of belonging. - Several participants described the programme as life changing, with one stating it was “the most genuine conversation they’d had in a long time,” and another saying, “I think the whole world should have to do it.” The programme also supported wider social outcomes. One participant established his own business during the course, several repaired strained family relationships, and many reported feeling more confident, connected and able to manage their emotions constructively. Growth for Change CIC delivered this work with a strong commitment to accessibility and inclusion. We adapted materials extensively to meet different learning needs, supported neurodivergent participants with tailored approaches, and ensured the space remained safe, consistent and responsive throughout. Overall, Men in Presence demonstrated clear, meaningful and lasting impact. It provided a vital space for men who are often overlooked in community provision, strengthened family and community relationships, and established a strong foundation for future programmes. This year’s work shows the value and necessity of accessible, needs based emotional support, and reflects Growth for Change CIC’s commitment to improving wellbeing, connection and resilience within the community.
