Turnover
Revenue represents the fair value of consideration received or receivable for consultancy services provided in the normal course of business, excluding value added tax and trade discounts. Revenue from contracts is recognised in accordance with the stage of completion of the contract at the reporting date, when the outcome of the contract can be estimated reliably. Stage of completion is measured by reference to the achievement of contractual milestones or, where appropriate, the proportion of costs incurred to date compared with the estimated total contract costs. Where milestone payments are received in advance of performance, amounts are recorded as deferred revenue within creditors and recognised as revenue when the related services are performed. Where services have been performed in advance of the contractual right to invoice, the revenue is recognised as accrued income within debtors, with associated costs recognised in the same period to ensure matching. If the outcome of a consultancy contract cannot be estimated reliably, revenue is recognised only to the extent of recoverable costs incurred. Expected losses are recognised immediately as an expense in the profit and loss account.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:
Plant & machinery
Over 4 years
Computer equipment
Over 4 years
Intangible fixed assets
Intangible assets are initially recognised at cost. After recognition, under the cost model, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses. All intangible assets are considered to have a finite useful life. If a reliable estimate of the useful life cannot be made, the useful life shall not exceed ten years. The website is being amortised over a useful life of 10 years.

Current and Deferred taxation
The tax expense for the period comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in profit or loss except that a charge attributable to an item of income and expense recognised as other comprehensive income or to an item recognised directly in equity is also recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively. The current income tax charge is calculated on the basis of tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date in the countries where the Company operates and generates income. Deferred tax balances are recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed by the reporting date, except that: * The recognition of deferred tax assets is limited to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits; and * Any deferred tax balances are reversed if and when all conditions for retaining associated tax allowances have been met. Deferred tax balances are not recognised in respect of permanent differences except in respect of business combinations, when deferred tax is recognised on the differences between the fair values of assets acquired and the future tax deductions available for them and the differences between the fair values of liabilities acquired and the amount that will be assessed for tax. Deferred tax is determined using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date.
Foreign exchange
Monetary assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the date of the transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating profit.
Pension costs
The Company operates a defined contribution plan for its employees. A defined contribution plan is a pension plan under which the Company pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the contributions have been paid the Company has no further payment obligations. The contributions are recognised as an expense in profit or loss when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown in accruals as a liability in the Statement of Financial Position. The assets of the plan are held separately from the Company in independently administered funds.
Leased assets
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight-line basis over the lease term. Benefits received and receivable as an incentive to sign an operating lease are recognised on a straight-line basis over the lease term, unless another systematic basis is representative of the time pattern of the lessee's benefit from the use of the leased asset Assets held under finance leases and hire purchase contracts are capitalised and depreciated over their useful lives. The corresponding lease or hire purchase obligation is treated in the balance sheet as a liability. The interest element of rental obligations is charged to the profit and loss account over the period of the lease at a constant proportion of the outstanding balance of capital repayments.

Debt factoring
The company finances certain trade receivables under an invoice factoring arrangement. Where the company retains substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership of the receivables, the receivables remain recognised in the Statement of Financial Position within trade debtors. A corresponding liability is recognised within creditors for the amounts advanced by the finance provider. The liability is reduced as the finance provider receives settlement from customers. Fees and charges arising under the facility are recognised in the profit and loss account as finance costs when incurred. Where trade receivables are sold to a finance provider under a non-recourse facility, the company transfers substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership. The receivables are therefore derecognised from the Statement of Financial Position. Cash received is recognised, and any difference between the carrying amount of the receivable and the proceeds received, including related fees and charges, is recognised in the profit and loss account as a finance cost.
Financial instruments
The Company has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 “Basic Financial Instruments” of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments. Financial instruments are recognised in the Company's Statement of Financial Position when the Company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
