COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LITTLE CHAPTERS CIC

Company Number: 16175730 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

During this reporting period, Little Chapters CIC continued its mission to support families with young children across Leeds, with a particular focus on nurturing early literacy and a lifelong love of reading. We partnered with five local venues across Leeds; Little Leeds Play Cafe, Swarcliffe Community Centre, The Mustard Pot, Garforth Old Girls School Community Centre, and Small Kind, to deliver story-based educational classes for parents and their young children. Over the course of the year, we delivered approximately 60 sessions, reaching over 150 families across the city. Alongside this, we ran dedicated baby classes for parents with children under one year old, focused on building early vocabulary and supporting speech and language development through play, song, and storytelling. We also launched a monthly book club for mothers on maternity leave, creating a supportive community space that combined social connection with early years literacy support. Feedback from our venue partners has been consistently positive. The Old Girls’ School Community Centre praised the warmth, consistency, and engagement our sessions brought to every child who attended, noting that parents highlighted how much their children enjoyed the interactive storytelling. Little Leeds Play Cafe commended our commitment to championing reading from birth for both children and parents and spoke of their confidence in the company’s continued growth. Through these activities, Little Chapters CIC helped strengthen parent-child bonds, built parents’ confidence in supporting their child’s early reading journey, and created accessible community spaces for families who may otherwise have experienced isolation during the early years of parenthood. By working across five venues spanning different areas of Leeds, we were able to reach families in a range of communities and embed our sessions within existing local hubs.
