During the financial year 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025, ReGenesis Youth UK CIC continued to support young people facing barriers to education, training and employment, with a particular focus on those who were not in education, employment or training (NEET), disadvantaged young people and those requiring additional support to progress towards positive outcomes. A major focus during the year was the development and pilot delivery of the A.R.I.S.E. Programme – Adaptable, Resilient, Industry-Ready, Skilled and Empowered – a structured life skills and employability programme designed to help young people develop the personal, social and practical skills required to progress into education, training and employment. ReGenesis Youth UK CIC developed a 14-module programme covering areas including resilience, self-awareness, confidence, mindset, communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, goal-setting, collaboration, financial awareness and employability skills. Two pilot cohorts were delivered during the reporting period, with each cohort taking part in an intensive programme lasting approximately one month. Learners were supported through interactive workshops, mentoring and employability-focused activities designed to increase confidence, improve decision-making, strengthen resilience and prepare participants for further training and employment opportunities. The A.R.I.S.E. pilot was supported through partnership working with City & Guilds Foundation, City & Guilds Training and Aston University. Learner referrals were also received through organisations including Birmingham Children’s Trust, Beating Time and Jobcentre Plus. Aston University researchers undertook a case study of the A.R.I.S.E. Programme, providing an independent academic perspective on the programme and its delivery. City & Guilds Foundation also supported the recognition of learner achievement through digital credentials for individual workshops and for completion of the overall programme. The programme benefited the community by providing young people facing barriers to progression with structured support, skills development and recognised evidence of achievement. It also created stronger links between community organisations, education and training providers, referral agencies and organisations working to improve employment outcomes for young people. During the year, ReGenesis Youth UK CIC also took part in stakeholder meetings and regional networking activity with organisations involved in youth employment, training and skills development. This included engagement with City & Guilds Foundation, City & Guilds Training, Aston University, Birmingham Children’s Trust and Beating Time, as well as participation in West Midlands Combined Authority networking events such as YouthPath. ReGenesis Youth UK CIC was also invited to attend City & Guilds parliamentary stakeholder events at the Houses of Parliament, providing opportunities to engage with wider discussions around skills, employability, social mobility and progression. The pilot year provided ReGenesis Youth UK CIC with valuable learning about programme delivery, learner engagement, partnership working and progression pathways. This learning has informed the continued development of the A.R.I.S.E. Programme and ReGenesis Youth UK CIC’s wider objective of supporting people to overcome barriers, develop employability and life skills and progress towards sustainable education, training and employment.
During the financial year, ReGenesis Youth UK CIC consulted and engaged with a range of stakeholders to support the development, delivery and review of its activities, particularly the A.R.I.S.E. Programme. Stakeholder engagement included regular meetings and discussions with City & Guilds Foundation, City & Guilds Training, Aston University, Birmingham Children’s Trust and Beating Time. These discussions helped inform programme delivery, learner referrals, progression opportunities and the wider development of the A.R.I.S.E. model. Young people, including those who were not in education, employment or training (NEET), were also involved through participation in the programme and through feedback and discussions about their experiences, needs and barriers to progression. Their views helped ReGenesis Youth UK CIC consider how activities could remain accessible, relevant and engaging for the people the organisation was established to support. Learner referrals were also received through Jobcentre Plus. Although no formal stakeholder meeting took place with Jobcentre Plus during the reporting period, the referral relationship contributed to widening access to the programme. ReGenesis Youth UK CIC also engaged with the wider regional skills and youth employment network through attendance at West Midlands Combined Authority events and initiatives, including YouthPath. These events provided opportunities to share learning, build relationships with other organisations and better understand regional priorities around youth employment, skills development and progression. The organisation was also regularly invited to attend City & Guilds parliamentary stakeholder events at the Houses of Parliament, which provided opportunities to engage with wider discussions relating to skills, employability, social mobility and opportunities for people facing barriers to progression. Feedback and learning from stakeholders were used to review the A.R.I.S.E. pilot and inform future development of the programme. This included consideration of programme content, delivery methods, learner support, referral pathways, employability progression and how the programme could be strengthened and scaled in future.
