Year Ending: 31 July 2026

Company activities and impact

During this year the CIC continued to deliver community dance and movement activities aimed at improving confidence, wellbeing and social connection, across the West Midlands region. We also included digital engagement with our community groups. Our sessions focused on making movement accessible, low-pressure and enjoyable so that people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds could take part. WhatsApp Community Group Chat Our online community is our members who receive exclusive updates and opportunities. They help us inform us of what their needs are and creative methods to help with any improvements. Express Ya Self: celebration dance event 2025: Supported Creative Black Country We celebrated and hosted our 2nd anniversary as a social enterprise in the heart of Wolverhampton. This was supported by Creative Black Country and thanks to the venue host Wolverhampton Arts Centre. Express Ya Self started in 2018 as a women’s only dance and confidence building workshop led by Tamar; prior to Unique Movez forming as a community interest company (CIC). - Now we have developed it into a day of dance celebration. Spring dance workshop: Express Ya Self Part of Wellbeing Weekender 2026 Part of Midlands Art Centre’s Wellbeing Weekender 2026, we hosted a mini version of Express Ya Self. A mix of dance movement and guided activity, harnessing wellbeing, community and connection for adults. We attracted a wealth of culturally diverse individuals attending an open level. The majority at beginner's level dance. Summer dance community meetup As part of our WhatsApp community group, we meet for consultations, check-ins and for a community day mixed with low impact dance movement and confidence building in our home city.

Consultation with stakeholders

Community participants (WhatsApp group) Regularly consulted via WhatsApp messages and polls about what activities they would like to take part in. For the 3rd anniversary event we asked members to select their preferred dance styles and timings; we then booked teachers and designed the programme directly in response to these poll results. Local social enterprise networks Sport4Change Wolverhampton event - Mental Health Awareness Week event (in collaboration with other CICs across the city. Together we were presented public speaking on the topic of how physical exercise (dance movement) can positively impact your mental wellbeing. Using sport as a vehicle for change, while bringing communities together. Youth outreach Your Story Youth Summit 2026 –We attended this summit and collectively consulted with young people who were present on their needs. National Youth Strategy Roadshow 2026 – We attended this roadshow. The Way Youth Zone (TWYZ) - We met with TWYZ to find ways we can support our stakeholders together and reach out to our younger community groups. The Kings Trust: Connecting Communities + The Kings 50th Garden Party. - We were invited to public speaking at connecting communities and networking with other organisations who run social enterprises like us. Our Founder, Tamar, attended the Kings Trust Garden Party. Our community group acts as a bridge of communication and breaks down barriers to ones who aren’t on social media or may experience digital poverty to keep up to date with our services. We notify our community of our updates, exclusive opportunities and ask the community what they want in terms of dance, movement and overall wellbeing. Funders – Creative Black Country, Creative Communities (Bursary) – This bursary contributed towards our 2nd anniversary as a CIC. We hosted and delivered Express Ya Self that attracted residents, of intergeneration, who are marginalised from physical and creative activity. The participants expressed an increase in satisfaction in movement and engaging in further activities away from home. This fund helped us better understand our community groups and step outside of the box. - Learn more here, https://www.creativeblackcountry.co.uk/
