During the year ended 28 February 2026, We Are Project Grow CIC benefited the community by creating and maintaining welcoming spaces where people could grow food, connect with nature and participate in community life. Our community growing and social and therapeutic horticulture activities provided opportunities for people to spend time outdoors, take part in purposeful activity and build relationships. These activities supported wellbeing and social connection, providing a supportive environment for people experiencing isolation or barriers to participation. Through practical involvement in sowing, growing and harvesting, participants and volunteers developed gardening skills, shared knowledge and contributed to the care of local green spaces. Growing and sharing seasonal produce encouraged an interest in fresh food, healthy eating and where food comes from. Our work with Kingsholm Primary School gave children opportunities to engage with nature and learn about growing food through practical gardening activities. These experiences encouraged curiosity, teamwork and care for the environment, while supporting outdoor learning and introducing children to the connection between growing, food and wellbeing. Working with local partners, we brought people together around food and the environment, supporting volunteering and a sense of belonging and shared responsibility. Our activities helped make community growing more accessible and demonstrated how urban spaces can be used to benefit both people and nature. The company’s resources were used to support these community activities and develop the growing spaces and equipment needed for their continued delivery.
