During the financial year 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, Cariad Communities CIC continued to provide a wide range of accessible community activities, inclusive programmes and practical support to children, young people, families, older residents and the wider community throughout the Upper Afan Valley. The CIC's regular Kids and Teens Clubs provided safe, welcoming and affordable environments where children and young people could socialise, develop friendships, participate in creative and recreational activities and build confidence. An eight-week Special Educational Needs (SEN) pilot programme was also delivered, providing additional opportunities for children and families who may otherwise experience barriers to accessing mainstream community activities. Throughout the year, the CIC organised and supported various funded activities and community events, including a summer trip to Jump Jam funded by CRU, additional children's and family sessions, and collaborative initiatives with local organisations. These activities helped improve access to recreational opportunities and encouraged greater participation in community life. Reducing social isolation and promoting community wellbeing remained important objectives. The Vintage Valleys initiative evolved into Crafty Cuppa following feedback from participants, providing informal, accessible opportunities for adults to meet, develop friendships and enjoy creative and social activities. By 31 March 2026, 15 sessions had been delivered, benefiting 25 individual participants. During the colder months, Warm Space activities provided welcoming environments where residents could meet, socialise and access community support. The CIC also facilitated food distribution and practical assistance through EFS-funded activities, helping individuals and families experiencing difficulties. Seasonal community support included a pensioners' Christmas dinner and the distribution of Christmas parcels, ensuring that older and potentially isolated residents could participate in festive activities and feel connected to their local community. The CIC continued to work closely with community partners and encouraged residents to contribute to local decision-making through community consultation initiatives, including participation in the Welsh Government's Cool Spaces survey. Throughout the reporting period, Cariad Communities CIC maintained a flexible and community-led approach, responding to feedback, adapting activities to meet changing needs and collaborating with other organisations to maximise available resources. The overall community benefit was the provision of affordable, inclusive and accessible activities that reduced social isolation, supported wellbeing, strengthened relationships between residents and increased opportunities for children, families and older people to participate actively in community life throughout the Upper Afan Valley.
No consultation with stakeholders
During the financial year ended 31 March 2026, the directors received no remuneration solely in respect of their duties as directors of Cariad Communities CIC. However, payments totalling £11,945 were made for services provided in connection with the delivery, coordination and management of the CIC's community activities and projects. These services included the delivery of Kids and Teens Clubs, SEN activities, Vintage Valleys, community workshops, Welsh Government survey work and other community initiatives. All payments were made in consideration of services provided to further the CIC's community objectives and not simply for holding office as directors.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
