Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Turnover represents amounts receivable for goods sold, stated net of value added tax, discounts and returns. Revenue is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership transfer to the customer, which is on despatch of the goods. Sales are made through online retail channels and by wholesale to retailers in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
Inventories are stated at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost is determined on a first-in, first-out basis and comprises the purchase price of goods together with the costs of bringing them to their present location and condition. Provision is made where necessary for obsolete, slow-moving or defective items.
The company’s functional and presentation currency is pounds sterling. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of the transaction. Monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are retranslated at the rate ruling at the balance sheet date. All exchange differences are taken to the profit and loss account.
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis. The directors have considered the company’s financial position, its trading since the balance sheet date and the continuing support of its directors, and have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
Basic financial instruments, comprising trade and other debtors, cash, trade and other creditors and loans from directors, are initially measured at transaction price and subsequently at amortised cost. Loans from directors are repayable on demand and carry no interest.
