During the reporting period, Ocean Of Wisdom Publishing C.I.C. produced the book Timely Questions Timeless Wisdom, by Ringy Tulku Rinpoche with Mary Heneghan. The first part of the book is based on a public conversation with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche held at Kellogg College, University of Oxford. The publication brings Buddhist teachings and perspectives into dialogue with contemporary questions and issues. Community benefit Topics covered in the book include: living and working together in harmony; leadership. education and learning; the nature of wisdom and knowledge; approaches to everyday difficulties and contemporary crises; attitude, karma and creating a path in life; and an introduction to the Buddhist Eightfold Path; all topics of interest to the community served. The publication benefits further community by making these teachings and ideas accessible to a broad readership. It is intended both for people with an established interest in Buddhist teachings and for people who are new to Buddhism or have a general or secular interest in wisdom, learning, harmonious living and responding constructively to the challenges of our time. Copies of the book were made freely available to libraries, community centres, Buddhist centres and individuals who helped create the book and who serve the community in other ways or who could not afford the cost of purchasing a book themselves.
The company involved and engaged with stakeholders and members of the community through various gatherings and visits: The editor travelled to Sikkim to visit Ringu Tulku to take newly published copies of the book to him, and discuss topics for further books. A book launch of Timely Questions, Timeless Wisdom was held at the newly opened Bodhicharya UK centre in Kent. Copies were also taken to big teaching gatherings in Brynmawr, Wales and in Nova Scotia, Canada, to interface with the Buddhist communities there. Copies were distributed to other relevant meditation and Buddhist centres and libraries. Members of the communities in all these places were consulted for feedback on the book and for topics they would like further books to be produced on.
