Marchbanks Measurement Systems Ltd has developed unique instrumentation for the non-invasive measurement of cerebral and cochlear fluid pressure-related physiology. Innovate UK funding supported the design and development of the next-generation MMS-15 Analyser, together with clinical evaluation and the collection of normative data, and a UK patent has been granted for the MMS-15 design. The company continues to support scientific research using its technology, including research arising from deployment of the previous-generation MMS-14F Analyser on the International Space Station.
Progress continues towards proposed clinical research studies at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, including investigation of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and a Primary Care study examining physiological biomarkers associated with raised intracranial pressure. The company is also arranging discussions with the MHRA to clarify the regulatory requirements and terms under which existing stock MMS-14 and MMS-15 Analysers may be made available for use in these clinical research studies.
The company continues to support collaborative research with NHS and academic partners, including an ongoing research collaboration with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside these activities, Marchbanks Measurement Systems Ltd continues to develop the scientific and clinical evidence base for tympanic membrane displacement measurement and to explore appropriate routes for the future commercialisation and wider international availability of its technology.
At the time of approving the financial statements, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future and will continue to support the company through their directors loan account. Thus the directors continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
