| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financial statements are presented in sterling (£), which is the functional currency of the company.
Critical accounting judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty
In the application of the company's accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The directors do not consider that there are any critical judgements, other than those involving estimations, that have a significant effect on the amounts recognised in the financial statements.
The key sources of estimation uncertainty at the reporting date that have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment to the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities within the next financial year are as follows:
Useful economic life of goodwill
The directors estimate the useful economic life of goodwill and review the carrying value for indicators of impairment. Changes in expected future trading performance may result in impairment or changes to the period over which goodwill is amortised.
Impairment of tangible fixed assets
The directors assess whether there are indicators of impairment and estimate recoverable amounts based on expected future cash flows generated by the business.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax balances are determined using estimates of the timing and extent of future reversals of timing differences and the tax rates expected to apply when those differences reverse.
Turnover
Turnover represents amounts receivable from the sale of food and beverages, accommodation income and other ancillary services provided by the company, net of discounts, refunds, value added tax and other sales taxes.
Revenue from food and beverage sales is recognised at the point the goods are supplied to customers, being when performance obligations have been satisfied.
Revenue from accommodation and room rental services is recognised over the period of the customer's stay, as the services are provided.
Turnover is measured at the fair value of consideration received or receivable. Where payment is received in advance of the provision of services, the amounts are recognised as deferred income until the performance obligations have been fulfilled
Goodwill
Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.
Financial instruments
Financial instruments are recognised in the Company’s balance sheet when the Company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.
Basic financial assets
Short-term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any impairment. Loans receivable are initially measured at transaction price (including transaction costs) and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less any impairment.
Basic financial liabilities
Short-term creditors are measured at transaction price. Other financial liabilities, including bank loans and other loans, are initially measured at transaction price (including transaction costs) and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
Going concern
At the year end, the company had net liabilities. However, the directors have confirmed that, in their opinion, the company will be able to meet its liabilities as they fall due for the foreseeable future (being a period of not less than twelve months) due to their continued financial support of the company. Consequently, the company is considered to be a going concern.
