Serene Beginnings CIC exists to support young women, girls and mothers in East London and surrounding boroughs to build confidence, wellbeing and financial resilience through education, practical skills and safe, supportive community spaces. Our service is delivered in partnership with local organisations, individuals and health and social care professionals. During the financial year ending 2026, the company focused on the following areas. Supporting mothers and families. The company developed "A Mother's Space", a programme of baby sensory and financial wellbeing sessions for mothers in Newham, designed to reach 220–330 participants across 22 sessions. The programme addresses isolation in early parenthood alongside practical money skills. This work has been made possible through grant funding obtained from the national lottery community fund.
The directors of the organisation have lived, worked and raised their own children in Newham and have been supported in the development and growth of the service professionally and personally from colleagues and friends alike. The organisation's stakeholders are women, predominantly mothers of children under the age of 3 residing in Newham or surrounding boroughs. We work in partnership with healthcare professionals from Newham council to provide free vitamins and supplements and emotional wellbeing support. Services including sound healing, baby massage and sensory sessions are delivered by self-employed women also living in the borough. The sessions offered were in response to consultation of what beneficiaries stated they would like. As a new organisation our focus has been on having a presence in the community and building a community. Now more established we are forming our theory of change in order to shape the data we collect to demonstrate impact.
