The CIC operates a competitive amateur boxing club, with a large degree of focus on creating a welcoming and positive community for all members. We began operations in February of 2025 and in the financial year between then and January 2026, benefited the community in the following ways: - Formed a diverse, welcoming community between ages 10-40 years old, helping people improve their fitness and build confidence, with a pathway to competitive amateur boxing. - Produced over 10 competitive boxers and had over 35 members. - Provided free coaching and memberships to 5 low income members. - Connected with youth workers to aid rehabilitative efforts in young offenders.
The CIC's stakeholders are members of Sweet Science Amateur Boxing Club, both those who have competed and have not competed in competitive contests. At the end of the competitive boxing season, we surveyed our active membership base over the month of July. Across 18 stakeholders surveyed at the time, it was suggested that the club endeavours to secure sponsorships & grant funding, to help reduce session fee and membership prices by subsidising running costs of the club. As a result, we began pursuing sponsorship opportunities at the beginning of our second season as a competitive club. We are hopeful this will enable more new members to start boxing at Sweet Science ABC.
