We run a repair cafe which operates regularly in Macclesfield with the support of 58 active volunteers. Visitors bring in items that need repairing, and sometimes give donations. Our volunteers repair items ranging from clothing, appliances, bikes and household goods. We also sharpen tools and run a computer triage desk. As well as repairs, the cafe offers a safe and welcoming environment for the community to gather over hot drinks and cake. Our work keeps items that can still be used out of landfill. This cuts carbon emissions and saves local people the cost of replacing their items. We are proud that our success rate in repairs is at 84% so far in 2026. We donate surplus money to local charities and CICs serving our community. We donated £2,650 this year.
Our stakeholders are our volunteers and the people who visit our cafe. We are very open to feedback and encourage discussion from all our stakeholders on what we can do to improve. This normally comes in the form of informal discussions at the cafe.
No remuneration was received
Donations were made to the following organisations for no consideration: The Restart Project £250 One Project Macclesfield Community Interest Company £100 Macclesfield Community Tree Nursery CIC £200 Just Drop-In Youth Info & Advice Limited £1,000 Bollington Community Association CIO £300 Smile Group £300 The Woodland Trust £400 CRE8 Macclesfield Limited £100 Total: £2,650 All of these are registered charities or CICs which are asset locked bodies.
