NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MAY 2026
| 1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
Newhall Janitorial Limited is a
The company's functional and presentational currency in the financial statements is the Sterling (£), rounded to the nearest pound.
The significant accounting policies applied in the presentation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated.
| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
There have been no material departures from Financial Reporting Standard 102 1A.
Turnover
Turnover represents amounts billed in respect of cleaning and hygiene products supplied and services provided during the year, excluding value added tax. Income is recognised at the point the related bill is raised to the customer, reflecting when the company has performed its obligations and has the right to consideration.
Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.
Tangible fixed assets
| Land and buildings | - |
| Plant and machinery etc | - |
Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued |
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any trade discount offered.
Cash at bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand are basic financial assets and include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks and other short term liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.
Creditors and provisions
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the company has a present obligation (legal and constructive) resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.
Leasehold property revaluation
Leasehold property is stated at valuation less accumulated depreciation. The property is revalued periodically by the directors, with sufficient regularity to ensure that the carrying amount does not differ materially from its fair value at the reporting date. Any increase in value arising on revaluation is recognised in the revaluation reserve. Depreciation is provided to write off the cost or valuation of the property, less its estimated residual value, on a straight-line basis over the shorter of the remaining lease term and its estimated useful economic life.
Financial instruments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
The company has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Instruments' and Section 12 'Other Financial Instruments Issues' of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.
Financial instruments are recognised in the company's balance sheet when the company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.
Operating lease commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.

| 12. | PRIOR YEAR ADJUSTMENT |
During the preparation of the financial statements for the year ended 31 May 2026, it was identified that expenditure incurred in relation to standalone software had been incorrectly classified within fixtures and fittings in the financial statements for the year ended 31 May 2025. The expenditure should have been classified as an intangible asset.
As the misclassification is considered to be material, the comparative amounts for the year ended 31 May 2025 have been restated accordingly. The adjustment has no effect on the net assets, retained earnings or profit for the year.
