Company activities and impact

Turquoise Arts CIC is a non-profit arts organisation dedicated to promoting wellbeing through creativity and nature awareness. During 2024-2025 the organisation's activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Ancient Underlands project - Turquoise Arts raised awareness of local fungi species, some of which are globally rare and endangered, by organising a series of exhibitions and activities. The final exhibition was held in 2025 at Hebden Bridge Town Hall. - The exhibitions featured work by established artists and some people who had never exhibited before, giving an opportunity to show work in public venues. The exhibitions involved approximately fifty local artists, makers and writers. - Approximately 120 people attended a lecture organised by Turquoise Arts about the work of the local National Trust project to survey and protect grassland fungi species. There is more information about the project here https://turquoisearts.org/ancient-underlands-evaluation/ PeatZine Turquoise Arts' PeatZine project focuses on the history and significance of Calderdale’s moors and peatlands, using a route along The Calderdale Way to tell some very local stories and consider how we’ve shaped the moors. Artists, writers and naturalists from the Peat Appreciation Society collaborated with local heritage groups, students and youth groups to co-create material which culminated in a pop-up exhibition and zine, taking readers and walkers through a journey using sound, art and creative writing. During Autumn 2025, we ran a series of workshops with the local community, including creative writing, visual arts, map-making and collecting oral histories. - 9 creative practitioners were involved in creating the project - 145 people took part in a creative workshop or event - 200 people visited the pop-up exhibition Turquoise Arts CIC also took part in Hebden Bridge Open Studios 2025.
