During this financial year, we have supported environmental exhibition across the country, and integrated social and environmental movements into independent cinema screenings to platform the work of these communities. This has included broader groups such as Transition Town, People Planet Pint, Surfers Against Sewage and the Wildlife Trust, as well as individual local organisations like Dumfries Climate Kitchen or Sustainable Penzance. We have distributed People’s Emergency Briefing to over 100 cinemas, as well as supporting the release of dozens of environmental films, including entirely self-distributed projects like Been Here Stay Here, Jo in the Water and It’ll Never Work. We have also hosted the first annual student film competition, A Few Minutes for the Planet, in association with NAHEMI and Sundance Film Festival, supporting the next generation of environmental filmmakers as they work through University. The impact of this work has been to raise the profile of environmental film exhibition across the UK, encouraging more independent cinemas to connect with their local environmental community groups to collaboratively programme seasons of Green Screen film.
We hold monthly meetings with our member cinemas to discuss upcoming programming and networking decisions, including introducing new filmmakers and distributors to the network. Our decision-making is regularly influenced by suggestions at these meetings, which has led to our plans for an in-person conference in 2027 to expand the community element of our work and bring new cinemas into the network.
Full details of director’s remuneration are found in the accounts, as Mark Morgan is paid a monthly wage to manage the UK Green Film Network. This totalled £6,150 for this period. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
