Company activities and impact

The team of volunteers have continued to carry out signification work in the Civic Rose Garden in St Albans. This has greatly improved the facility leading to an increase in the use of the site by local residents and visitor. BID St Albans has used the garden in the summer of 2026 as a venue for well attended musical events, and in conjunction with St Albans District Council, the volunteer team was present in the garden on the day of the city Spring Festival, to welcome visitors and explain the scope of the planting schemes. The volunteers hosted a visit by a local school and provided knowledgeable guides to explain the planting and how it was designed to accommodate climate change, and identify the many pollinating insects frequenting the site. The efforts of the volunteers was recognised by an award from the St Albans Civic Society.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have continued to build relationships with council officers and newly elected councillors, and we have reached out to the Mayor of St Albans, and to our MP, all of whom are supportive of our work. We have strong working relationships with BID St Albans, St Albans Civic Society, the Soroptimists and a local school. We are members of Communities 1st and benefit from a supportive relationship with them, and have been working with Oakland College St Albans and "Men in Shed" to construct a bench for the garden.
