Defend Together CIC exists to make cyber security more accessible, understandable and relevant, particularly for people and communities that may have limited access to the sector. During the reporting period, the company continued to develop and deliver CSIDES Weston-super-Mare as a locally led community initiative. Its activities brought together residents, cyber security professionals, employers, education providers, volunteers and community organisations through accessible events, talks, workshops, careers information and opportunities to build local connections. These activities helped increase awareness of cyber security, improve access to learning and career pathways, and create opportunities for people to engage with the sector in an informal and inclusive environment. They also helped strengthen relationships between the local community, industry and education. The company also began establishing the foundations for CSIDES to develop into a national network of legally independent, locally led coastal chapters. This included developing the CSIDES Blueprint, governance arrangements, chapter approval process, licence agreement and protections for the CSIDES name, logo and central materials. This work is intended to preserve the purpose and identity of CSIDES while enabling other coastal communities to benefit from the model. CSIDES Weston-super-Mare remains the founding chapter and continues to provide the experience and learning on which the national approach is based. Any income or support received by the company was used to deliver its community-benefit activities, develop the CSIDES programme and prepare for its future sustainability and expansion. No surplus was distributed for private benefit.
