COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SEN FRIENDS GROUP CIC

Company Number: 16216201 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

SEN FRIENDS GROUP CIC was incorporated on 29th January 2025 and this report covers its first financial period, from 29th January 2025 to 31st January 2026. The company provides inclusive sensory activities, resources and support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families in Doncaster. During the period the company: - ran weekly sensory stay-and-play sessions at Cantley Community Centre, and extended its sessions to the North Family Hub in partnership with Doncaster's Family Hubs; - delivered sensory Glow Parties in the Central locality for disabled and neurodivergent children and their families, free of charge, including a pilot session for older children aged 9 to 16; - ran a summer programme of inclusive sensory sessions and a family fun day, funded by the City of Doncaster Council Universal Youth Offer; - delivered a 'Don't Be Alone at Christmas' activity to reduce isolation for families over the festive period; - built up a library of specialist sensory equipment, including bubble tubes, fibre-optic lighting, sensory water tables, soft play equipment and a vibrating cushion suitable for children with physical disabilities and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), funded by City of Doncaster Council and community investment fund grants; - began the SENsory Inclusion Project, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, in October 2025. These activities benefited the community by giving SEND children safe, sensory-friendly spaces in which to play, socialise and regulate, with most provision offered free of charge so that cost is not a barrier for families in deprived areas. Parents and carers gained opportunities to meet other families, reduce isolation and access support, and the equipment purchased will continue to be used across the company's sessions in future years.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are the children and young people with SEND who attend its sessions, their parents and carers, the wider Doncaster community, partner organisations and venues (including Doncaster Family Hubs and Cantley Community Centre), its funders (including City of Doncaster Council, Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, South Yorkshire Community Foundation, the National Lottery Community Fund and the Rotary Club of Doncaster), and the company's directors, session staff and volunteers. The company consults parents and carers through surveys and through feedback gathered at sessions, and works with Family Hubs and partner organisations to understand where need is greatest. It reports to funders through monitoring and evaluation returns. In response to this feedback: families told us all previous Glow Parties had waiting lists and asked for provision for older children, so the company ran more Glow Parties and piloted a session for 9 to 16 year olds; consultation with Family Hubs identified high need in the North of Doncaster, so sessions were rolled out there first; feedback on accessibility led the company to buy equipment suitable for children with physical disabilities and PMLD; and sessions were offered free of charge wherever funding allowed so that cost does not exclude families.

Directors' remuneration

The directors received the following remuneration during the period for delivering sessions and managing projects (on a self-employed basis): Emma Steel: £4,752.64 Hannah Bromage: £1,265.14 Total: £6,017.78 This comprises £720.00 paid to Emma Steel for summer activity sessions and £5,297.78 accrued at 31st January 2026 for session delivery and project management on the National Lottery-funded SENsory Inclusion Project. Reimbursements to directors of expenses paid personally on the company's behalf are not remuneration and are not included.
