Trustees' Report
The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025.
Objectives and Activities
Aims and Objectives
The charity's objects and principal activity continue to be those of promoting, establishing and operating drama schemes of a charitable nature.
Achievements and Performance
Main Achievements
Although TRAM Direct in the past supported the following organisations with various elements year was very much reduced due to various elements. This year saw a drastic reduction in support due to a range of factors as outlined. Assistance was given to the following but at a much lower level of support:  Third Sector Organisations, Social Enterprises, Educational Establishments. Community Groups. Young People.
Educational Establishments
Work experience is offered to students studying various art related course. We offer placements to extend qualifications to gain further experience in their related discipline. Placements are offered for actors, musical theatre, stage management and front of house.  This was not extensive as previously due to the company experiencing a change of directors and lack of funding.
Productions
The company in partnership with Arts Enigma (another community arts organisation) performed “ Paddy’s Market” a musical based on the Paddy’s market at Saltmarket. In Glasgow. It was a huge success and many of the older generation enjoyed a trip down memory lane. Comp tickets were given out to local community groups. And many volunteers helped out with front of house and other duties whilst learning some skills and knowledge about  working in theatre.
We continued to offer attendance at our productions to special needs groups, vulnerable adults and those suffering from addictions. Plus, older groups and community groups who wish to attend our productions. Volunteers and community workers are encouraged to join to enhance self-confidence and other life skills but to a much lesser degree.
Input to Other Organisations
TRAM Direct works in partnership with the following offering support, advice, resources, skills and knowledge. However, this has been reduced.
Performing Arts Organisations
Community Groups
Addiction/ Recovery groups
Arts Organisations
Individuals interested in pursuing the Arts
Financial Review
Plans for Future Periods
For this period TRAM has realised that the support once offered through funding has ended plus the input of Covis has drastically impacted on our previous commitments. Theatre audiences have reduced and funding also. Moreover, we had a change of Directors which took some time to replace plus our bank TSB suddenly refused to handle our finances as they no longer supported Charities. This impact allowed the past and new Directors to assess if continuing with the company was feasible. Several meetings took place to discuss whether the Charity should be wound up. The Director’s all agreed that this should happen in autumn 2026. This decision was not taken lightly as the company has been in existence since 1994. However, one must be realistic and realise that various changes as outlined have to be taken into consideration. For the moment, all business sides of TRAM will be addressed at further meetings so as to abide by the OSCR guidelines in winding up a Charity.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of T.R.A.M. Direct
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 October 2025.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law), you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (a) to (c) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent Examiner's Statement
Since the Charity has prepared its accounts on an accruals basis and is registered in Scotland your examiner must be a member of a body listed in Regulation 11(2) of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, which is one of the listed bodies.
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
  • which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
    • to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
    • to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
       have not been met, or
  • to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
