The company operates one charity shop reselling donated goods (previously two shops, merged in August 2023). Profits from these sales have been transferred to The Living Room charity (registered charity numbers 1080634 and CIO 1175541), to which Revival (The Living Room) CIC is asset-locked. During the year, clients supported by The Living Room - individuals who are abstinent and in recovery from addictions - have gained valuable skills and volunteering experience through roles at Revival (The Living Room) CIC. Family members and carers supported by The Living Room have also engaged as customers and advocates of the shop and the services it funds. In addition, members of the wider community, including unemployed individuals, have volunteered at Revival (The Living Room) and developed retail experience. We currently employ 4 staff members, most of whom began their careers as volunteers. The shop provides an important recycling facility for clothing, toys, and small household items, reducing landfill waste. It offers affordable goods, enabling people on low incomes to purchase essential items such as school uniforms. We have also donated sleeping bags, linens, blankets, and smaller-sized adult clothing to other charities supporting homeless people and refugees.
Stakeholders include staff, directors, The Living Room trustees, volunteers, the police, neighbouring shop owners, schools, and customers. They are consulted on store layout changes, encouraged to donate goods and time, and engaged in discussions about local community events and initiatives to support young people and reduce crime in the area. Our social media channels also generate significant feedback, which we use to inform decisions.
