In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Youth Visionaries CIC was incorporated on 1st April 2025 as a community interest company limited by guarantee. This is its first community interest company report and covers the period from 1st April 2025 to 30th April 2026. The company exists to benefit young people aged 16 to 25 in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire who face barriers to education, employment and wellbeing, through creative arts, employability and wellbeing programmes. It has no shareholders, its assets are subject to the statutory asset lock, and any surplus is reinvested in its work with young people. Its work in the period was funded by grants and donations from CLICK Arts Foundation, Milton Keynes Community Foundation, Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy (administered by Cause4), Youth Music, Westhill Endowment and Merkur, and its directors gave their time without payment for their duties as directors (see Part 3). Activities in the period and how they benefited the community TEDxMiltonKeynesYouth 2025, “Limitless Horizons” (12th August 2025, MK Gallery, Milton Keynes). The company organised and delivered the first TEDx event in Milton Keynes dedicated entirely to young people, under an official TEDx licence, on International Youth Day. The programme featured eight TED-style talks given by ten speakers, including young authors and disability-inclusion advocates, a former Youth Mayor of Milton Keynes, young athletes and a youth changemaker, together with live performances by four young performers. Civic guests included local MPs and the Mayor of Milton Keynes. Places were free for young people and the event sold out at its licensed capacity of 100. The talks were professionally filmed for the TEDx global platform and the event is listed on TED.com. It was funded by grants of £2,000 from CLICK Arts Foundation and £2,500 from Milton Keynes Community Foundation, with MK Gallery as venue partner, and was promoted through schools, community organisations and Milton Keynes Youth Council so that young people from under-represented parts of the city, including Netherfield, Bletchley, Coffee Hall and Wolverton, could take part. For the young people involved it provided coaching, a public platform and a permanent record of their ideas; for the audience, free access to a high-quality event in their own city. Creative Fundraisers MK (July 2025). A three-part fundraising skills programme, one in-person workshop and two online sessions, for twenty young artists, musicians, filmmakers and grassroots cultural workers from Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, delivered in partnership with Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy and funded by a grant of £2,350 administered by Cause4. Participants left with practical funding plans and budgets, and the programme produced a fundraising workbook, recorded sessions and a peer network for young creatives across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire. Sound to Skill (pilot programme; delivery began April 2026). In 2025 Youth Music’s Trailblazer Fund awarded £15,000 for a music and employability pilot for 16 to 25 year olds, combining DJ skills, music production, MC and vocal expression and careers support in one weekly session. During the period the company recruited and registered young people, confirmed and briefed its delivery partner, On The Decks Group, and put safeguarding and delivery plans in place. Delivery was delayed from the original timetable because the company’s bank closed its business account in December 2025 and did not reissue the closing balance, which included grant funds, until February 2026; Youth Music approved a revised timetable in March 2026 extending the project to 31st July 2026. The pilot launched on 18th April 2026 with weekly Saturday workshops at OTD Studios & Academy, Creslow, Buckinghamshire, led by DBS-checked tutors from On The Decks Group with the company’s director leading the careers station. The first group was small, which gave each young person a high level of individual tuition. The remainder of the pilot was delivered after the period end and will be reported in next year’s report. Bridges of Belief (preparation). In early 2026 Westhill Endowment awarded £7,000 for a youth-led interfaith dialogue project bringing together 16 to 25 year olds of different faiths and none. During the period the project was designed, promotional materials were prepared and outreach to schools, faith communities and youth organisations began. Delivery began after the period end. PATHWAYS MK (design and consultation). During the period the company designed PATHWAYS MK, a 12-month employability and mentoring programme for young people who are not in education, employment or training or at risk of long-term unemployment, in consultation with more than 50 young people (see Part 2), and applied to The National Lottery Community Fund on 1st April 2026. The grant of £20,000 was awarded after the period end and delivery began in August 2026. Partnerships and referral routes. Throughout the period the directors built the partnerships that underpin the company’s weekly employability and mentoring provision for young people: Milton Keynes City Council’s Early Help service and family centres, Job Centre Plus, Milton Keynes College and local schools and community organisations. These relationships provide referrals of young people furthest from opportunity, venues in the communities they live in, and progression routes into qualifications and work. Recognition. In July 2025 Milton Keynes City Council awarded the company its Youth Provision Safe Practice Mark, confirming that its safeguarding policies, DBS checks and designated safeguarding lead meet the council’s standard for youth provision. The company is a member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Finances. The company’s income in the period consisted of grants and donations for its work with young people, the largest being Youth Music’s £15,000 grant for Sound to Skill, the first instalment of which was received in the period, together with £100 paid by its former bank in compensation for the delay in reissuing the closing-balance cheque. Its expenditure was on delivering the activities described above, principally event and production costs for TEDxMiltonKeynesYouth and tutor delivery for Sound to Skill, together with bank charges. No payment was made to members or directors other than as disclosed in Part 3. At 30th April 2026 the company held £7,392.59 in its Unity Trust Bank account, the greater part of it grant funding committed to delivering Sound to Skill and Bridges of Belief in 2026–27. Any surplus is retained for reinvestment in the company’s programmes for young people.
Young people – programme design. Before designing PATHWAYS MK, the company surveyed more than 50 young people aged 16 to 25 in Bletchley, Wolverton and Central Milton Keynes and ran taster sessions to test programme content. They identified a lack of employer connections, gaps in digital skills, low confidence after repeated rejection and the absence of one-to-one support, and asked for practical, employer-facing skills rather than classroom learning. In response the programme was built around structured work placements and mock interviews with employer volunteers, with one-to-one coaching throughout. Young people – Sound to Skill. Participant feedback is gathered through check-ins at each session. In the first weeks of the pilot, participants preferred to move between the DJing, production, vocal and careers stations at their own pace rather than in a fixed rotation, and the session format was changed accordingly. Schools, community organisations and Milton Keynes Youth Council – TEDxMiltonKeynesYouth. The company worked with these partners on the programme for the August 2025 event and on reaching young people from under-represented parts of the city; their input shaped the speaker line-up and the areas targeted for free places. Delivery partner – Sound to Skill. In March 2026 the company met On The Decks Group to agree how the pilot would be delivered. The partner’s advice to run each workshop as four stations at its own studio with DBS-checked tutors was adopted as the delivery model for the pilot. Local authority – venues and referrals. In April 2026 the company met Milton Keynes City Council’s Strategic Lead for Early Help to discuss its plans for young people, including monthly life-skills workshops. The council agreed to share the company’s programmes across its network and to support the use of council family centres for the company’s sessions, which the company has since taken up. Funders. The company reported to Youth Music on the delay to Sound to Skill caused by the closure of its bank account and agreed a revised delivery timetable with the funder in March 2026; Youth Music’s advice to pause delivery until the new business account was open was followed.
