COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

DOVER SEA SPORT CENTRE CIC

Company Number: 15400184 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Dover Sea Sports Centre CIC continued to develop and improve the facilities and activities available at the Centre, supporting the growth of water sports and community use in Dover. As part of our ongoing investment in the Centre, we undertook a full refit of the kitchen area. This included the removal of the existing, outdated broken kitchen units and the installation of brand-new units, together with additional cupboards and increased worksurface space. The improvements have significantly increased the available storage and preparation space, providing a more practical, functional and welcoming facility for tenants, visitors and community groups using the Centre. We continued to support the Centre’s tenants in delivering a wide range of events and activities for the local community. Highlights during the year included supporting the first six-hour sailing race, bringing RYA Powerboat tuition back to Dover, and hosting an accessible Santa’s Grotto, helping to ensure that community activities were inclusive and accessible to a wider range of people. We have also continued to strengthen the relationship between the tenants of the Centre and Dover Harbour Board. This collaboration has helped to increase awareness, participation and use of water sports within Dover Harbour and the surrounding area, supporting the Centre’s wider aim of encouraging greater community engagement with the sea and water-based activities. Overall, the Centre has continued to provide a base for local organisations, instructors and community activities, contributing to increased participation in water sports, improved access to facilities and greater community use of Dover’s waterfront.

Consultation with stakeholders

Dover Sea Sports Centre CIC’s key stakeholders include Dover Harbour Board, the Dover Harbour Estates team, the tenants and organisations based within the Centre, local sports clubs, members and users of the facilities, and the wider local community. Throughout the financial year, we have maintained regular communication and consultation with our stakeholders. We have held monthly meetings with the Dover Harbour Estates team to discuss and coordinate improvements, maintenance works and the general smooth running of the Centre. These regular meetings have enabled us to identify issues, discuss feedback and agree appropriate actions to maintain and improve the facilities. We have also maintained a close working relationship with the Chief Executive Officer of Dover Harbour Board and have participated in various Dover Harbour and Marina working groups. This has provided an opportunity to discuss the wider development and use of the Harbour, share feedback and ensure that the interests of the Centre and its users are represented. We work closely with all tenants within the building, supporting them with their activities and helping them to increase participation and membership. Feedback from tenants has helped us to identify opportunities to improve the facilities and support the development of the organisations operating from the Centre. A specific example of support provided in response to stakeholder needs was our work with Dover Rowing Club to support their application to become a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). The club's application has now been successfully approved. Through these ongoing relationships and consultations, Dover Sea Sports Centre CIC has been able to respond to stakeholder needs, improve the facilities, support the organisations based at the Centre and encourage greater participation in water sports and community activities.
