Revenue recognition
Turnover represents the value of goods and services supplied during the year, net of Value Added Tax and trade discounts. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when goods are despatched to customers and the significant risks and rewards of ownership have transferred. Revenue from installation services is recognised as the services are provided.

Impairment of fixed assets

Finance leases and hire purchase contracts
Assets held under finance leases and hire purchase contracts are recognised as assets of the company at the lower of their fair value and the present value of the minimum lease payments. The corresponding liability is included within creditors. Lease payments are apportioned between finance charges and reduction of the outstanding liability.
