In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. During the year ending 31 January 2026, 4theRegion CIC continued to bring people and organisations together to co-create a happier, healthier South West Wales with a thriving economy. Our work focused on creating opportunities, share ideas and working together on the economic, social and environmental opportunities facing the region. County Events A major part of our activity during the year was our programme of “It’s Your County” events, which brings together people from across each local area to have an open conversation about its future. During the year we delivered events in Swansea, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Neath Port Talbot. These events brought together businesses, community organisations, public sector organisations, educational institutions and individuals from across each area. The events provided an accessible platform for people to hear about positive developments in their area, understand the opportunities available and contribute their own ideas and perspectives. They also created opportunities for organisations from different sectors to meet and develop relationships which can lead to further collaboration. The conversations generated through these events were captured and shared through reports and follow-up activity, ensuring that the ideas and priorities raised were not simply confined to the event itself. Feedback demonstrated the positive impact of this approach. For example, 93% of respondents at It's Your Neath Port Talbot said that attending the event made them feel more positive about the opportunities and prospects for the Neath Port Talbot area. The events therefore contributed both to community engagement and to a stronger sense of optimism, connection and opportunity within the region. Green Economy Conference 4theRegion hosted the annual Green Economy Conference in November. Bringing together organisations from different sectors to explore the transition to a greener and more sustainable economy. Our approach was to create space for practical conversations between businesses, communities and public sector organisations, recognising that the transition to a green economy requires collaboration across sectors rather than isolated action by individual organisations. Through our events and partnerships, we helped organisations to share ideas, understand opportunities and make connections around sustainability, climate action, renewable energy and the development of a resilient regional economy. Partnerships and collaboration A core part of 4theRegion's community benefit comes from its role as a connector and facilitator. During the year we continued to work with and support regional partnerships including the South West Wales Connected Community Rail Partnership and food partnership activity in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. Through these partnerships we connected organisations and communities around issues including sustainable transport, local food systems, food growing, community resilience and wellbeing. Our role is often to bring together organisations that would not otherwise have an opportunity to work together, helping to develop relationships, share knowledge and identify opportunities for collaborative action. YOUTH, SKILLS AND OPPORTUNITY We continued to develop our work around youth empowerment and skills, recognising that young people need to be connected to the opportunities being created through the changing South West Wales economy. We worked with education and skills organisations and regional partners to strengthen connections between young people, education, employers and the wider economy. This included supporting conversations about the future workforce and the skills required for major areas of regional economic development, including the green economy and the Celtic Freeport. Impact in the community Across all of this activity, 4theRegion's purpose has been to create opportunities for people and organisations to connect, collaborate and take action. During the year our work: - provided accessible opportunities for communities and organisations to have a voice in conversations about the future of their local areas - over 2000 people engaged in these even - strengthened connections between businesses, public sector organisations, community organisations and educational institutions; - promoted greater awareness of opportunities within the South West Wales economy; - supported local businesses and organisations to make connections and explore opportunities within regional supply chains; - encouraged collaboration around the green economy and sustainability - over 700 registered guests - supported community-led activity around food, transport and local resilience; and - helped connect education, skills providers and employers with the opportunities emerging across the region. The impact of 4theRegion comes from the relationships and connections created through this work. By providing spaces for people to meet, share ideas and collaborate across organisational and sector boundaries, 4theRegion helps to build the stronger, more connected and more resilient South West Wales that is at the heart of its community interest.
4theRegion's stakeholders include its members, regional partner organisations, businesses, public sector organisations, educational institutions, community organisations and individuals and communities across Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Pembrokeshire. During the year, 4theRegion continued to use a range of methods to consult and engage stakeholders, including county-wide events, round table discussions, thematic events and conferences, partnership meetings, its Annual General Meeting, direct engagement with members and partners, and feedback gathered from participants and delegates. The “It's Your County” events provided an important mechanism for broad stakeholder consultation. Bringing together businesses, public sector organisations, community groups and individuals created opportunities for stakeholders to share their experiences, identify barriers and opportunities, and contribute to conversations about the future of their local areas. The organisation also used more focused round table discussions and thematic conversations to explore specific issues including local procurement and supply chains, food resilience, the green economy, skills and youth empowerment. Feedback from these consultations has directly influenced 4theRegion's programme of activity and its approach to partnership development. Themes raised by stakeholders have informed subsequent events, projects, partnerships and areas of focus, including the organisation's increasing emphasis on local economic resilience, procurement, youth empowerment, skills and the green economy. The Annual General Meeting in June, also provided an opportunity for members to review the organisation's progress and contribute to its priorities for the year ahead. 4theRegion's consultation approach is intended to be ongoing rather than limited to a single annual consultation. By maintaining regular conversations with stakeholders, the organisation is able to identify emerging issues, connect organisations with shared interests and respond to the priorities of the communities and organisations it serves. The organisation's stakeholder engagement therefore contributes directly to the development of its activities and helps ensure that its work remains relevant to the needs and aspirations of South West Wales.
During the year, Zoe Antrobus received remuneration of £47,466 in respect of their executive role. Payments were made in line with the responsibilities undertaken and the operational needs of the business. The company ensures that any remuneration paid to directors is reasonable, proportionate, and necessary for the effective running of the CIC. The level of remuneration is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains aligned with the company’s community purpose and does not detract from the delivery of community benefit.
