Significant accounting policies
Statement of compliance
These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006.

Basis of preparation and cessation of trading

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102, including the provisions applicable to small entities, and the Companies Act 2006.

The director has decided to cease the company's trading activities and intends to proceed with the closure of the company following the completion of its statutory and tax obligations.

As the company is not expected to continue trading, the director has assessed whether preparation on a going-concern basis remains appropriate. Where that basis is not appropriate, the financial statements are prepared on a basis that reflects the anticipated realisation of assets and settlement of liabilities. The resulting measurement adjustments and material uncertainties are disclosed where applicable.
Turnover
Turnover represents consideration receivable for educational support, translation, interpretation, digital-product and other services provided during the reporting period, net of discounts, refunds and applicable VAT.

Revenue is recognised when the relevant goods or services are supplied in accordance with the applicable requirements of FRS 102. Amounts collected through payment processors and online marketplaces are recognised on a gross or net basis according to whether the company acts as principal or agent. Separately identifiable payment-processing charges are recognised as expenses where appropriate.
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and impairment losses, subject to any adjustments required by the basis of preparation.

Computer equipment is depreciated at 18% per annum on a reducing-balance basis over its expected useful economic life. The useful life, residual value and carrying amount are reviewed when circumstances indicate that an adjustment may be required.

On disposal or transfer of an asset, its carrying amount is derecognised and the resulting gain or loss is recognised in the income statement.
